Fed up with the failure of the council to sort the litter problem on the NCN, Sustrans Rangers have set up their own litter bin at the manor way access point.

The reason that bins often end up chained to lamp posts in Sheffield is that the black bins (Sheffield Standard Bins) are installed on a thin bed of concrete and are easily and often pulled over by yoofs. They get chained as a temporary measure till they can be put back in.
